Every School Has a Story to Tell
More than a place of learning, schools are anchors and reflections of the neighborhoods they serve. Today these stories are being lost and with them a pathway for developing a holistic cultural and historical understanding of Washington, DC.
“I learned the importance of cherishing a school’s historical value along with learning about Eastern alumni like Franklin McCain, a Civil Rights Activist… Seeing the accomplishments of influential figures that came before us allows students to make positive decisions for their own lives.” - Demar Franklin, SOOS student at Eastern High School, 11th grade
We need your help to continue to support our hiqh-quality partnerships. Research shows that arts and humanities experiences increase engagement, attendance, achievement, and grades. However, evidence also shows access to these experiences is highly inequitable.
By supporting our work you are building community, deepening neighborhood ties around schools, and giving students space to explore issues important to themselves and their communities—particularly for those who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities.
We are extremely grateful for your donation as we grow and implement our programming in more schools throughout the District. Thank you for sharing our vision and for your generous contribution!
